Melshore Authors Update

A lot has happened since my last blog,  Volume 1 of the Sammy series is complete with all six illustrations and volume 2 has been published without illustrations.  The one illustration above the prologue in volume 2 is a copy from volume 1 and will be changed eventually.  I will add all of the illustrations to this blog but you will have to buy the books to read the stories.  You will find all of my books at Amazon.com and some of them are in ebook formats at Smashwords.com.

Here are the completed illustrations:

Sneak Preview

Introducing Becky and her father.  He is reading Becky the story of Sammy's family starting with the parents.  Sammy's mother Agnes is a twin sea serpent and Eric the dragon is the father.

This is an image of Agnes and her twin brother Horace the day they discover an island.

This is the twins Agnes and Horace when they meet Walter the dinosaur for the first time on the beach of the island.

The illustrations above are three of the images included in the book.  Gary Finelli is the artist who is doing these fantastic full color illustrations and there are two more to finish.  Once those are completed the first book in the series will be published and available on Amazon.com.  This entire series will also be available at Amazon in the Kindle eBook format and all additional eBook formats will be available on Smashwords.com.  Once all versions are available this blog will have links to the book in both a print version and all eBook formats.

This series is intended for young children, but can also be used as a bedtime story for children too young to read all of the words.  If they gave ratings to books, this would qualify as a G ranking since there isn't any foul language, adult content or excessive violence.

IT'S HERE!

Sammy the Sea Serpent

From the Beginning

This is the final version of the front cover.  The large sea serpent on the left is the father of the twins Agnes and Horace.  Agnes is Sammy's mother and Horace is Sammy's uncle.  The sea serpent on the right is the twin's mother.
This illustration will also appear in the book (without the text) and will appear on the book that Becky's father is reading from.
Watch for more sneak peeks at illustrations as they become available.  My illustrator Gary Finelli is a full time high school art teacher in New York and he is doing these illustrations in his spare time.  As you can see, the result is worth waiting for.
As promised in my last blog, here is an excerpt from the book:

“Do you have a bedtime story for me, daddy?” Becky asked her father.
“Actually,” he answered, “I have a brand new story for you.”
“Oh! Goody, goody,” she exclaimed aloud and clapping her hands.  “What is the story about, daddy?”
“It’s all about a family of sea serpents,” he explained.
“Sea serpents?” she asked a slight tremor in her voice.  “Aren’t they big and scary?”
“Well,” he father continued, “they are big.  That’s for sure.  But these sea creatures only eat fish and seaweed so you have nothing to be afraid of.”
“Oh!’ she sighed, relieved.  “I thought you were going to tell me a scary story because Halloween is coming soon!”
“No dear!” he laughed.  “I want you to get some sleep, not stay up all night looking for monsters.”
“Thank you daddy,” she laughed.
“Anyway, the story starts a long, long time ago before people lived here,” he continued.
“Do you mean when there were dinosaurs and dragons living here?” Becky asked.
“That’s right,” he answered.  “Now lay down while I tell you a story about Sammy the Sea Serpent.

SNEAK PRIVIEW UPDATE

COVER UPDATE

Here is an update on the cover.  The mother sea serpent is still missing from the scene but is in the process of being completed.  As you can see, Horace is finished and Agnes in the foreground is done as well.  There are also a few added touches such as a little yellow fish and a star fish.

Stay tuned for more updates as they happen.  This same image will appear twice inside the book.  Once without the titles and once on the book a little girl's father is reading at her bedtime.

I will be adding more completed illustrations as they are done and I may include some excerpts as well.  Once all of the illustrations are done the entire book will be available in both a print version and in eBook formats.

SNEAK PREVIEW

  Sammy the Sea Serpent

From the Beginning

Here is a sneak preview of the front cover from the new children's series called Sammy the Sea Serpent.  It is not finished yet but I wanted to share this great rendering.  Gary Finelli is the illustrator who is working on the illustrations and I am putting on the finishing touches like the titles.

The two newborns just coming out of their shell are Sammy's mother Agnes and her twin brother Horace.  The sea serpent swimming overhead is their father and the twin's mother will soon be added to the image.  Agnes is the twin who is barely visible and Horace is partially finished.

In another post I included an image of a sea creature but didn't say who it was.  As promised, I will reveal who it is and as I said, it is not Sammy.  It is the grown up version of Agnes who is Sammy's mother.  Watch for updates on future illustrations as they become available.
